A building in Anfield has collapsed, leading to the closure of a main road. The incident occurred at Jovan's Townsend Kitchen, an African café situated at the junction of Townsend Lane and Empress Road, on July 15, 2025.

Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 1.45pm after the upper floor of the building crumbled into the road. Photographs taken by a Liverpool ECHO photographer reveal that the wall on the building's upper floor has collapsed, scattering bricks, timber, and debris across the pavement below.
Road Closure and Traffic Impact
Merseyside Police have confirmed a road closure is in place between Lampeter Road and Canon Road. Online traffic monitor INRIX reports congestion in both directions due to the incident. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
