Aldi Rice Lane car park blocked after Volvo crash

A Volvo crashed through a wooden barrier at the Aldi supermarket car park on Rice Lane in Walton, Liverpool, blocking the entrance. The incident occurred shortly after 2pm on Saturday, 18 July 2026, and the store remains open, according to the Liverpool ECHO.

Eyewitness Account

An eyewitness who arrived at the scene minutes after the crash said: "The whole road into the supermarket is closed at the moment." The witness, who provided photographs to the ECHO, reported that the car appeared to have "come from inside" the car park "as if heading back out." He added that "loads of people [were] gathered around taking pictures" and staff were trying to determine the next steps.

Damage and Aftermath

Images show the Volvo ploughed through a wooden barrier, dragging vegetation and a wooden pole. A street light was also damaged and left bent out of shape. Police had not arrived at the scene at the time the photographs were taken. It is currently unknown when the car park will be accessible again.
