A distressed reader wrote to Jane explaining that his girlfriend searches the internet for casual sex, loves being admired, and gets off on exerting power over grateful men. He caught her performing a sex show for a stranger, and despite promising to stop, he later found her naked online with a sex toy for a man in Germany. She has since moved in with her sister, where she reportedly brings strange men back for noisy sex, including two men for drinking and bondage games. The reader wants her back, but Jane advises otherwise.
Jane says: "Your on/off girlfriend is currently running wild. She’s meeting men for sex, taking enormous risks, and pushing boundaries. Even if she decides you’re ‘the one,’ will you ever forgive and forget? My feeling is that too much has happened. For your own sake, try to let her go. Think of your wellbeing and dignity. She isn’t the only woman in the world. Find the courage to tell her ‘enough’ and move on."
Junk Food Addiction Concerns Partner
Another reader worries about her boyfriend’s consumption of processed foods and greasy home deliveries while gaming. He looks terrible but has never acknowledged a problem. Jane advises addressing the issue directly.
Jane says: "If his unhealthy habits have become the elephant in the room, you’ve got to address this for his sake and yours. Tell him you love him and are worried. Suggest taking up gentle exercise and healthy eating together. If he says no, you may have to accept he’s his own person. Can you respect that?"
