Aberdeen pitch invasion fury as Stewart slams 'idiots'

Michael Stewart slammed the 'idiots' who invaded the pitch and threatened to overshadow Aberdeen's penalty shootout victory over Kilmarnock. The Dons reached the semi-finals of the Premier Sports Cup after battling with 10 men to see off Killie.

Match drama and red card

Kevin Nisbet's second-half strike had been cancelled out by Tyreece John-Jules, who struck moments after Dan Happe was sent off by Don Robertson. But after the game went all the way, Marius Muller turned in an inspiring shootout performance and Jack Milne stepped up to send the Dons to Hampden.

Pitch invasion and safety concerns

But unfortunately the celebrations were immediately overshadowed when fans invaded the pitch amid the celebrations. Stewart said on Premier Sports as spectators spilled onto the pitch: "There's a few absolute idiots in front of the Kilmarnock support as well. Just get off. You've got a couple of stewards having to try and handle this on their own. It's going to kick off here. Absolute idiots!"
