A 14-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh, India, was abducted, drugged, and gang-raped by two men while on a simple errand to buy vegetables for her family, police have reported. The incident occurred near Charrett Town in the Allegra district on Saturday evening.
Abduction and Search
The girl left her home to purchase vegetables but failed to return. Her family launched a desperate search throughout the night, aided by a passer-by who reported seeing the girl being led out of the village by two men. The family contacted police, who began an investigation.
Police found the girl unconscious in a desolate location outside her village. She was rushed to a hospital with visible bruising and severe facial swelling. Preliminary investigations suggest she was forced to take a drug that rendered her immobile before being assaulted.
Arrests and Legal Action
Two men, aged 35 and 36, have been arrested on suspicion of gang rape. Local officers raided the suspects' home; one attempted to flee by jumping from an upper floor, sustaining injuries in the process. A case has been registered for gang rape and administering poison or intoxicants with intent to cause harm.
Station House Officer Ankit Singh stated: "The victim is undergoing a medical examination, and further legal action will be taken based on the medical report and other evidence collected." The investigation remains ongoing.
