A nine-year-old girl died from a single stab wound to her chest, a coroner's court has been told.
Tragic Details of the Incident
The inquest heard that Aria Thorpe was fatally injured at her home address in Lime Close, Weston-super-Mare. The tragic incident occurred on 15 December.
Following the event, a 15-year-old boy was charged with her murder. He is currently awaiting trial, which is scheduled to begin in June.
Family's Heartbreaking Tribute
Aria's father, Tom Thorpe, along with her mother's family, paid an emotional tribute to the young girl. They described her as a "brave, kind-hearted and beautiful innocent soul" who had a passion for singing and dancing.
Legal and Inquest Proceedings
The coroner has directed that a full post-mortem report be completed by 16 February. A review hearing for the inquest has been set for 10 April.
It was noted that the full inquest will be adjourned pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings against the teenage defendant.
