Musa Ahmed, the seven-year-old boy critically injured in the West Mersea beach tragedy, has died in hospital, his family confirmed.
In a statement, the family said he passed away "in a state of ease and peace" at the Royal London Hospital on Tuesday evening.
Victims Identified
Musa's mother, Shelina Rahman, 41, and his 15-year-old sister, Sameeha, were pronounced dead at the scene after being pulled from the water.
The family also thanked the doctors and nurses in the hospital's intensive care unit for the "outstanding care and dignity" they showed Musa during his final days.
Day Trip Turned Tragic
The family, from Ilford in east London, had travelled to West Mersea near Colchester for a day trip on Tuesday, July 22, when the incident occurred.
Emergency services were called at about 5.35pm after reports that several people had got into difficulty in the water.
Ongoing Investigation
Three other relatives rescued from the sea were taken to hospital by ambulance and are recovering from their injuries, police said.
Essex Police said enquiries into the circumstances of the incident remain ongoing.
