A 78-year-old woman who died after being struck by a car in an Asda car park in Oldham has been named as Margaret Crichton. The incident occurred at the store on Greenfield Lane in Shaw at approximately 6:50pm on 18 December 2025.
Greater Manchester Police said the driver of a Peugeot Expert was heading towards the exit of the car park when he hit the pensioner as she was returning to her vehicle. A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
Emergency services attended the scene, but Margaret Crichton, from Oldham, died from her injuries. The force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is now working to identify her family, who are believed to be in Manchester or Yorkshire.
Police are appealing for anyone who knew Margaret or her family to come forward.
