The revelation came after Maddalena shared his own costly experience of being caught using a mobile phone while driving. The MMA veteran was hit with a $500 fine after a camera clearly captured him on his device behind the wheel. "I was on my phone, I was driving...they took a photo of me and you could see me clearly," Maddalena explained to N3on.
N3on, whose real name is Rangesh Mutama, was particularly stunned to learn that not wearing a seatbelt could also result in a significant penalty. "Is it true that if you don't wear your seatbelt here you can get fined?" he asked. Maddalena confirmed, noting the prevalence of automated enforcement. "They have cameras, and if you're speeding, they flash a photo of you and then they give you a fine later."
