Popular American streamer N3on has expressed his astonishment at the strict and costly nature of road rules in Australia, following an eye-opening tour of Perth with UFC star Jack Della Maddalena.
An Expensive Lesson in Road Safety
The revelation came after Maddalena shared his own costly experience of being caught using a mobile phone while driving. The MMA veteran was hit with a $500 fine after a camera clearly captured him on his device behind the wheel. "I was on my phone, I was driving...they took a photo of me and you could see me clearly," Maddalena explained to N3on.
N3on, whose real name is Rangesh Mutama, was particularly stunned to learn that not wearing a seatbelt could also result in a significant penalty. "Is it true that if you don't wear your seatbelt here you can get fined?" he asked. Maddalena confirmed, noting the prevalence of automated enforcement. "They have cameras, and if you're speeding, they flash a photo of you and then they give you a fine later."
Amused by the high-tech method, N3on quipped, "And they'll send the picture? That's called getting caught in 4K."
Controversy Follows the Streamer Down Under
The 18-year-old streamer, who has amassed nearly 1.5 million followers across YouTube and Twitch, has been travelling Australia with ex-rapper Iggy Azalea. The pair have been romantically linked since October, though neither has officially confirmed a relationship. They also launched a cryptocurrency together in November last year.
However, N3on's trip has not been without controversy. He recently attracted unwanted headlines after a clash in an Australian souvenir shop. During a livestream, a young woman bumped his shoulder, prompting him to call her a vulgar slur. The situation escalated when the woman's father confronted N3on and his entourage, demanding he not swear at his daughter. The video ended with N3on's team scrambling to defuse the tense standoff.
From Gaming Fame to Headline News
N3on rose to prominence as a 12-year-old playing video games like Fortnite. His current high-profile trip with Azalea, including celebrating New Year's Eve together, continues to keep him in the public eye, blending his streaming career with celebrity gossip and now, an unexpected education in Australian law enforcement.
The experience with Maddalena highlights a stark cultural difference in traffic policing, leaving the American influencer with a clear, and expensive, impression of Australian road rules.
