Trump in ‘excellent health’, doctor says after medical check

US President Donald Trump’s doctor has declared him in “excellent health” following a routine medical check, but advised him to lose weight. The assessment was detailed in a three-page memo released by the White House after the 79-year-old underwent tests at Walter Reed Medical hospital near Washington.

“President Trump remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and overall physical function,” said Trump’s physician, US Navy captain Sean Barbabella. The memo provided an overview of the physical examination and diagnostic testing conducted on Tuesday.

In separate news, a federal judge has reopened a lawsuit against Trump concerning a $1.8bn settlement with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the justice department. Miami judge Kathleen Williams’ decision to revisit the case came after a bipartisan group of 35 former federal judges urged a closer examination of the settlement.
