Tragic Collision Claims Two Lives

A devastating early morning crash on the border of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire has resulted in the deaths of two women and left a young boy fighting for his life.

Police were called to Common Lane in Pleasley at approximately 6.20am on Thursday, 27 November, following a collision between a Vauxhall Meriva and a Suzuki Alto.

Casualties and Arrest

Tragically, the two female passengers in their twenties travelling in the Suzuki Alto were pronounced dead at the scene. Their families have been informed.

A nine-year-old boy, who was also a passenger in the Suzuki, was rushed to hospital with what Derbyshire Police described as life-threatening injuries.

Three men who were in the Vauxhall Meriva also sustained injuries, with two of them reported to be serious.

An 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Due to injuries he sustained in the collision, he was taken to hospital where he remains.

Police Investigation and Witness Appeal

Derbyshire Police have launched a full investigation into the circumstances of the fatal road traffic accident.

Officers are now urgently appealing to the public for information. They are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any information that could assist the investigation.

In a statement, the force reiterated their appeal, asking anyone with dashcam footage or other relevant knowledge to come forward immediately to help piece together the events that led to this tragedy.
