Two children hurt in serious A30 crash, man arrested

Four people, including two young boys, have sustained serious injuries following a major road traffic collision on the A30 near Sherborne in Dorset. A man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Emergency Response to Late-Night Collision

Dorset Police were called at 9.13pm on Thursday, December 18 to reports of a serious crash on the A30 between Castle Town Way and Oborne Road, to the east of Sherborne. The collision involved a white Range Rover and a blue Renault Clio.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, rushed to the scene. The road was closed to allow for a comprehensive emergency response and subsequent investigation.

Victims Rushed to Hospital for Treatment

Four people were transported to hospital with serious injuries. Two boys, aged seven and nine, were airlifted alongside a woman in her 30s. All three are being treated for serious injuries.

A man in his 30s was also taken to hospital by road ambulance with serious injuries. The next of kin for all those involved have been informed.

Police Investigation and Witness Appeal

Dorset Police have confirmed the arrest of a man in his 40s from Yeovil on suspicion of driving offences. He is also in hospital receiving treatment for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Sergeant Dave Cotterill of the Roads Policing Team stated: “We are carrying out a full investigation into the circumstances of this collision and I am keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened.”

He urged anyone travelling in the area at the time, around 9.13pm on December 18, to review any dashcam footage that may assist the enquiry. The public were thanked for their patience during the necessary road closures.
