
A family beach day ended in unimaginable tragedy when a two-year-old boy was struck and killed by an out-of-control car as he walked hand-in-hand with his parents, a coroner's court has heard.
The incident, which occurred on a summer afternoon, saw a vehicle suddenly mount the pavement and plough into the young family who were returning from the seaside. Emergency services rushed to the scene but the toddler, from St Mellion, Cornwall, was pronounced dead after suffering catastrophic injuries.
A Day Out Turns to Tragedy
The inquest into the child's death was opened and adjourned at Cornwall Coroner's Court. The hearing was told the little boy was walking home with his mother and father when the car veered off the road.
