Three hospitalised after M6 van and car crash

Three people have been taken to hospital following a crash between a van and a car on the M6 in the early hours of Tuesday, with the motorway closed in both directions at junction 20.

Emergency services were called to the scene near the Lymm Interchange at 3.31am on October 27. Cheshire Police officers found that a collision had occurred involving a car and a van.

Three people were taken to hospital for assessment, the force said, and the vehicles are being removed from the scene. Work is continuing to repair the barrier on the motorway, a spokesperson for the force added.

Carriageway closures and diversions

The northbound carriageway was closed initially following the crash. However, police later shut the southbound carriageway, stopping traffic from travelling on both sides of the M6.

Diversions remain in place, with around 90 minutes of delays and eight miles of congestion reported at the time of writing.
