A community in North Yorkshire is in mourning after a teenage girl lost her life in a serious road traffic collision involving a minibus and a car.
Details of the Tadcaster Collision
The incident occurred at the junction of Toulston Lane and Rudgate in Tadcaster at approximately 12:28pm on Monday, 1 December 2025. According to North Yorkshire Police, a white Mercedes Sprinter minibus, travelling towards Sherburn, was in collision with a light-coloured Hyundai i10 car that had entered Toulston Lane from Rudgate.
The minibus was carrying nine passengers aged between 16 and 18, along with a male driver. Tragically, one teenage girl was pronounced dead at the scene. A second teenage girl sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital by ambulance; her condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
Police Investigation and Arrest
The driver of the Hyundai, a 40-year-old woman, has been arrested in connection with the investigation. The remaining minibus passengers and the male driver were treated in hospital for minor injuries.
Toulston Lane remains closed while police carry out their enquiries. The Major Collision Investigation Team has issued an urgent appeal for information.
