A stolen car was left abandoned on its roof following a crash at a roundabout in Dundee. Police have launched a search for the driver, who fled the scene after the smash on Old Glamis Road in the early hours of Wednesday, August 26.
Emergency response and investigation
Emergency crews rushed to the scene, close to the Kingsway, after the alarm was raised around 5.50am following a report of a one-vehicle crash. Following an investigation, officers discovered that the silver car was stolen from the Forfar area.
Police Scotland have now launched a search to trace the driver. The force are believed to be following a positive line of enquiry.
Photos show wreckage
Photos from the scene showed the vehicle lying on its roof surrounded by debris and the front bumper hanging off. The airbags appear to have been deployed following the smash. A cop car can be seen parked alongside the wreckage, with a recovery vehicle also pictured stationed nearby.
Police statement
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.50am on Wednesday, 26 August, 2026, police received a report of a one-vehicle crash on Old Glamis Road, off the Kingsway in Dundee.
“Enquiries have confirmed the car was stolen from the Forfar area. The driver left the scene and officers are following a positive line of enquiry.”
