A police-led incident has closed the M62 in both directions overnight. Queueing traffic is reported between junction 7 and junction 6 in the early hours of Sunday morning, August 2.
Motorists are urged to avoid the motorway if possible.
Traffic management on scene
A National Highways spokesperson said: "Traffic officers are on scene dealing with traffic management. There are delays up to 10 minutes on the approach with one mile of congestion."
