M6 crash in Cheshire causes 60-minute delays, two lanes closed

Traffic is building on the M6 northbound in Cheshire after a crash left two lanes closed, causing delays of approximately 60 minutes and up to five miles of congestion.

The collision happened at Junction 18, the A54 Middlewich Road, where two of four lanes are closed as emergency services deal with the incident.

Inrix, a traffic monitoring website, reported: "M6 Northbound partially blocked, queueing traffic due to accident at J18 A54 Middlewich Road (Middlewich / Holmes Chapel)."

Recovery arranged

National Highways: North West posted on X: "M6 northbound between J17 (Sandbach) and J18 (Middlewich)" and "Lanes 3 & 4 (of 4) are closed due to a collision."

The post added: "Recovery has been arranged. There are delays of 60 minutes and 5 miles of congestion on the approach."
