The M57 southbound has been closed overnight between junction 3 and junction 2 near Liverpool following a serious crash, with drivers facing hour-long delays.
Emergency services were called to the scene late on Tuesday night, September 15, with all services now on site. The southbound carriageway was shut between junction 3 and junction 2.
Crash reported at 10pm
According to traffic incident logs from AA Roadwatch, the serious crash that led to the closure occurred at 10pm. AA Roadwatch reported: "Road closed due to serious crash on M57 Southbound between J3 A526 Seth Powell Way (Stockbridge Village) and J2 A57 Liverpool Road (Prescot). 15 Sept 2026, 10:00PM (first reported)."

Merseyside Police have been confirmed as taking the lead at the scene, with all emergency services now working there following the serious crash. National Highways has also confirmed the closure of the M57 to southbound traffic near Liverpool.
