Ross Grealey, a father of two and grandfather, died after being struck by a bus in Stockport on Friday, October 30. He was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of Greater Manchester Police and paramedics. His granddaughter was born the day after his death.
Family Tributes
In a statement released via Greater Manchester Police, his daughter Carla said: "Dad, I’m truly heartbroken. I still can’t understand any of it. I just wish it hadn’t happened." She added, "Devastated isn’t even the word. I can’t get my head around the fact that you’re no longer going to be here. You were a pain in the arse, but you were MY pain in the arse!"
Carla continued: "I’m so proud to call you my dad. You were one of a kind, loved and liked by so many people. My boy JJ will carry your beautiful curls, and I promise he will grow up knowing all about you and how special you were. He will never forget you, and neither will I. I will carry you on your final journey, Dad, just as I always carried you through life."
Son's Message
His son, also named Ross, said: "Dad, I honestly can’t believe this has happened. I wish me and you had more time together. There’s so much left unsaid and so much more I wish we could have shared." He added, "You’re now a grandad to a beautiful baby girl, who was born just a day after this tragedy. I wish with all my heart that you could have met her. She will grow up knowing all about you, your mad life and the person you were."
Tribute from The Wellspring
The team at The Wellspring, who supported Ross, also paid tribute. They said: "Ross was loved by each and every person who had the pleasure of knowing him. Always with a story to tell, a smile on his face and a hug to give. He made our world a better place simply by being in it."
The collision occurred on Winifred Road, Stockport, on Friday, October 30. The family has pledged to ensure Ross receives a fitting send-off, with his daughter Carla noted for her efforts in arranging the funeral.
