Florida Man Drives Backwards, Claims Car Stuck in Reverse

A Florida man was caught on camera driving backwards on a busy road, telling police his car had become stuck in reverse. The incident occurred on Friday, 13 March, when the Flagler County Sheriff's Office received multiple reports of a motorist reversing along a thoroughfare.

Deputies stopped William Murphy III, 47, of Palm Coast, after he spun the vehicle around and shifted into drive. Murphy claimed the car had a mechanical issue and that he “thought the best option was to drive it backwards to AutoZone”.

Murphy was arrested for habitual driving while license suspended or revoked. He was taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and later released on a $1,000 bond.
