A teenage girl suffered life-changing injuries after two brothers, described in court as "idiots", raced each other at speeds of up to 90mph on a prestigious peninsula.
High-Speed Crash on Exclusive Sandbanks
Harrison Taylor, 19, and his 21-year-old brother Harry Taylor were racing their powerful cars on the Sandbanks peninsula in Poole, Dorset. The court heard that Harrison was driving a Mercedes A200, while Harry followed in a BMW 135i. Both vehicles had been gifts intended to help the brothers cope with their parents' separation.
During the reckless race, Harrison Taylor lost control of his Mercedes on a bend. Prosecutors stated he had the accelerator "pedal to the metal". The car collided with a gatepost of a multi-million pound mansion. Harry Taylor, unable to stop, then ploughed his BMW into the back of the Mercedes, sending it crashing into a garden wall.
Passenger Trapped in the Wreckage
The front-seat passenger in the Mercedes, 17-year-old Mia Savage, was trapped in the severely crumpled vehicle. Emergency services had to cut her free from the wreckage as her distraught mother, who had been called to the scene, looked on.
Mia was airlifted to hospital with catastrophic injuries. Her extensive injuries included:
- A shattered left femur
- A fractured neck
- A broken arm
- Eight broken ribs
- Severe internal bleeding from a severed spleen, split diaphragm, and liver laceration
Long Road to Recovery
The teenager faced a gruelling medical ordeal following the crash on 8 January 2026. She underwent hours of complex surgery and was placed in an induced coma for a week. Her recovery required her to be in traction for her arms and one leg, and she had to wear a fixed neck brace for 12 weeks.
The case, heard at court, highlighted the devastating consequences of dangerous and irresponsible driving. The brothers' actions, motivated by a reckless race, resulted in life-altering injuries for an innocent young passenger.
