Bolton crash: Brother warned teen to 'be smarter' weeks before fatal smash
Brother warned teen before fatal Bolton car crash

The devastated older brother of a teenager killed in a horrific head-on collision had pleaded with him to drive more carefully just weeks before the fatal smash, after the youth flipped his car in a previous incident.

A Tragic Warning Ignored

Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar, aged 18, is believed to have been driving the Seat Leon that collided with a Citroen C4 Picasso taxi in Bolton in the early hours of Sunday. The catastrophic crash claimed his life and those of his two passengers: friends Farhan Patel, 18, and Mohammed Danyaal, 19. The taxi driver, 54-year-old Masrob Ali, also died at the scene.

Miraj, Jibrael's 21-year-old brother, has shared their final WhatsApp exchange on TikTok, revealing his desperate last warning. In the messages, he told his younger sibling: “180 mph one mistake tyre blows or car comes in front. Dead & in pieces. Be smarter.” In a poignant caption accompanying the screenshots, Miraj wrote: “My last messages to him - Damn I wish he just listened. But he was only 18.”

A close family friend explained the context, stating: “Jibril liked to drive at crazy speeds and his brother was worried about him. He had an accident in Bolton about a month ago when he flipped the car. He clearly hadn't learnt his lesson. It's tragic he's now lost his life.”

Social Media Clips and Ongoing Investigation

Mukhtar, who worked as a mechanic at his brother's garage, frequently posted videos on social media showcasing his heavily modified car, highlighting its loud engine, flashing exhaust, and cosmetic upgrades. A video clip showing a car travelling at speeds exceeding 120 mph on a built-up street is now part of the police investigation into the fatal collision. The footage appears to depict a vehicle speeding down a busy road, overtaking others and veering onto the wrong side. It is believed to have been filmed by an occupant of the Seat Leon involved in the crash.

Det Insp Andrew Page, of Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are still in the early stages of our investigation and work is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this terrible incident.” He urged witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward, while also asking the public to be mindful of sharing graphic content online out of respect for the grieving families.

Families and Community in Mourning

The daughter of taxi driver Masrob Ali paid a moving tribute, saying: “I just can't get my head round the fact that he'll never walk back through the door. Everyone has said he was the gentlest soul.”

Hundreds of mourners gathered at Bolton Central Mosque for the funeral of the three teenagers, with an outpouring of grief also visible on social media. Friends of Mohammed Danyaal have launched a fundraising page in his memory, stating they wish to honour his life by “giving back and helping others in need.”

The collision's aftermath continues, with five passengers from both vehicles remaining in hospital for treatment. Among them, a 29-year-old woman is being treated for potentially life-threatening injuries.
