A teenage boy has been bailed after being arrested by officers from the Gorton and Levenshulme Neighbourhood Policing Team. The arrest relates to a burglary in which bikes belonging to an inclusive cycling programme were taken and some sold online.
The bikes are part of a charity that provides specialised adapted bikes for people with disabilities or differing needs, offering a safe and accessible environment for them to exercise.
Arrest and bail
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of burglary. He has since been bailed pending further investigation. Bikes found by officers have been returned to their owner.
Police statement
The Greater Manchester Police East division said: "Officers from our Gorton & Levenshulme Neighbourhood Policing Team have arrested a teenage boy on suspicion of burglary. It has been established that a number of bikes were stolen from a charity with some of them being sold online. The charity is an inclusive cycling programme providing specialised adapted bikes for people with disabilities or differing need, providing a safe and accessible environment for them to exercise. The boy, has been bailed pending further investigations and there of the bikes have been returned to their rightful owner. Enquiries are ongoing."
