Police are investigating after a Co-op store in Gullane, East Lothian, was rammed in the early hours of Saturday, 4 July 2026, leaving its front door completely shattered. Officers were called to the scene on Main Street at around 3.20am following reports of a break-in.
Store closed as enquiries continue
Images from the scene show the Co-op's door smashed in, with shattered glass and debris scattered inside. The area was taped off by police, and the store has been closed while investigations are ongoing, according to Edinburgh Live.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 3.20am on Saturday, 4 July, 2026, officers received a report of a break-in on Main Street, Gullane. Enquiries are ongoing."
Local business appeals for CCTV footage
Destined for Home, a gift shop in Gullane, shared an image of the scene on social media, alerting residents: "In case you are not aware the Co-op is not open today. Police are in attendance. If anyone has CCTV footage around 3am please get in touch with police."
The Co-op has been approached for comment.
