A man spent eight hours trapped inside the drainage system of a portable toilet after allegedly climbing in to retrieve a drink he had dropped, according to a company spokesperson.
Discovery During Routine Collection
The incident occurred at a World Cup-linked event in Kansas City. Chip Counterman, a partner at Patriot Portable Restrooms (PPR), detailed the ordeal in a social media video. He explained that staff discovered one cubicle was locked during a routine collection and gave the occupant 10 minutes to finish. After the time elapsed, the man inside said he did not want to get out.
A PPR staff member flagged down a passing police officer, who after a short exchange determined the man was stuck. Crews managed to gain entry but found the unit apparently empty. Suddenly, according to Counterman, “all of a sudden a head popped out of the toilet.”
Rescue and Cleanup
The man told first responders he had entered the toilet to fetch a soft drink bottle he dropped the previous night. The Kansas City Fire Department was called and instructed the man to exit. Firefighters successfully freed him and used their truck’s hoses to wash him off. Counterman stated: “He had been inside for eight hours. Fire department hooked up water to their truck and gave him a free shower.”
Counterman thanked the Kansas City Fire Department and Police Department for resolving the “horrible situation” and advised: “watch out falling into toilets.” The man has not been named by authorities, and his condition after the incident is unknown.
