An 85-year-old grandfather has died more than four months after being injured during a burglary at his home in Lancashire.
Gordon Nicholass suffered a head injury and cuts to the face when he confronted offenders who had broken into his house in the village of Helmshore. The incident took place shortly before 3am on April 29 at his home on Moss Close.
Assault During Confrontation
According to reports, the intruders assaulted Mr Nicholass when he confronted them after they entered his property. He was treated in hospital but has now died as a result of his injuries.
Police have previously described the attack as targeted, and the case has drawn attention to the vulnerability of elderly residents in the area.
