England's World Cup preparations have been thrown into chaos after training equipment was reportedly stolen in transit ahead of their opening match against Croatia.
Thomas Tuchel's side have been dealt a major blow after a brazen theft occurred during the team's relocation from West Palm Beach, Florida, to Swope Soccer Village in Missouri. According to reports, official tournament footballs, essential training kit, and even players' boots have gone missing.
Investigation Underway
The Daily Mail reports that the theft has left backroom staff scrambling to find replacements. An investigation is now ongoing to determine exactly what has been taken, with unconfirmed claims suggesting the boots of Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, and other stars were among the stolen items.
Express Sport understands that two arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and the FA is working with local police to recover the stolen equipment. The FA has been contacted for comment.
Setback for Preparations
England had enjoyed an encouraging pre-competition camp in Miami, securing victories over Costa Rica and Miami FC in behind-closed-doors friendlies. The theft represents a significant setback, as staff are now frantically sourcing replacement gear before the squad's first training session in Kansas City.
Tuchel had praised the team's preparations in Florida, noting the importance of managing game time and giving players rest. He expressed excitement about changing scenery for the group stage, but the theft has cast a shadow over the move.
England will call Swope Soccer Village home for the next three weeks as they aim to progress beyond the group stage. The team is scheduled to train in Kansas City for the first time on Saturday, June 13.
