A man has tragically died after falling from a building in Manchester city centre, with police treating the incident as unexplained.
Police Respond to Incident on Charles Street
Greater Manchester Police were called to Charles Street in Manchester at approximately 4pm on Saturday, 23 May 2026. Upon arrival, officers found a man who had fallen from a nearby building. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The man has not yet been formally identified.
Reports indicate that the Maldron Hotel was evacuated shortly before multiple emergency vehicles and forensic officers arrived. A blue forensic tent was erected on the street outside the hotel as part of the investigation.

In the hours following the incident, armed officers were seen patrolling the surrounding streets as the police continue their enquiries into the tragic death.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police stated: "At around 4pm today (Saturday 23 May 2026), we were called to reports that a man had fallen from a building on Charles Street in the city centre. Sadly, a deceased man was found at the scene. Enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding his death, which is unexplained, are currently ongoing."
