Insiders indicate there was no "total surprise" at her decision to pursue legal action, but a sense of "weariness about the whole thing" prevails behind the scenes.

One source revealed: "The show is already very bruised with all the cut-backs, and the programme being reduced to just 30 weeks a year, and the atmosphere isn't the greatest. This is the next drama they will have to try and navigate. It could drag on for a long time."
