Police in West Lothian are investigating after a worker was reportedly attacked and items stolen from a supermarket.

The incident at Scotmid on Broxburn's East Main Street took place on Tuesday, August 4, and was later reported.
The person said to be responsible allegedly fled the scene and no arrests have been made.
Police and Scotmid responses
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Tuesday, 4 August, 2026, we received a report of a theft and assault in East Main Street, Broxburn. Officers will speak to the reported to gather more detail.”
Scotmid has confirmed it is assisting the force with its inquiries while prioritising the safety of its staff and customers. A Scotmid spokesperson said: “We can confirm that an incident took place at our Broxburn store yesterday. The matter has been reported to Police Scotland, and we are assisting with their enquiries. Our priority remains the safety and wellbeing of our colleagues and customers. As this is an ongoing police matter, it would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”
