A family in California has been left devastated and is pleading for the public's help after their beloved pet cat was allegedly stolen from their front yard by an Amazon delivery driver.
Shocking Footage Captures Alleged Theft
The incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, 16 December 2025, at a home in Lakewood, approximately 20 miles south of Los Angeles. Home security footage, shared widely on Facebook by the owner Diane Huff-Medina, shows a person wearing an Amazon vest delivering a package.
After placing the parcel on the porch, the individual notices the family's cat, Piper, in the yard. The video then shows the driver bending down to pet the Siamese cat before attempting to pick her up. When Piper resists, the person is seen grabbing the animal by the neck and walking away with her towards their vehicle.
Owner's Desperate Plea for Piper's Return
"An Amazon delivery person took our cat, Piper, after he dropped off a package on Thursday evening," wrote Huff-Medina in her online appeal. "We just want her back home safely."
Speaking to Eyewitness News, the distraught owner described her horror upon reviewing the footage. "I thought he was just petting her for a second... I had to rewatch it a couple of times because it is hard to see," she said. "He doesn't carry her very nicely. I see her little tail and I was like, 'Oh my God.' I couldn't believe what I was seeing."
Limited Progress in Investigation
Huff-Medina confirmed she is working with both Amazon and local law enforcement but expressed frustration at the slow response. "We haven't had much support in getting help from either one," she stated.
She added that while Amazon has identified the driver involved, they have not been able to make contact. A report was filed with the Lakewood Sheriff's Station, but the owner was told it could take weeks or even months for an investigator to be assigned to the case.
Amazon has not yet provided a public comment on the situation. Anyone with information regarding Piper's whereabouts is urged to contact the owner directly through her Facebook post.
