Three people have been charged with terrorism offences following a protest in support of Palestine Action in Edinburgh. The demonstration took place on Saturday, October 31, outside the US consulate on Regent Terrace.
Protest Details
The event coincided with a similar protest outside the US embassy in London. Two women and a man were charged on Friday in connection with terrorism offences relating to supporting a proscribed organisation.
Demonstrators were pictured holding signs with the message, “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action,” gathered by the building on Saturday afternoon.
Legal Context
The protest comes ahead of an appeal at the Supreme Court against Palestine Action’s designation as a terror group on November 4. Expressing support for the group is an offence under the Terrorism Act after it was proscribed in June 2025.
Police Response
Police Scotland confirmed their enquiries are ongoing and they will continue to hunt for people in attendance who were seen supporting Palestine Action. A spokesperson for the force said: “A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
“Extensive enquiries remain ongoing to identify people seen wearing T-shirts and holding banners showing support for a proscribed organisation. Evidence is being reviewed and further action will be taken as appropriate.”
