Toronto Police Deputy Chief Frank Barredo confirmed that although people were inside the consulate at the time of the shooting, the building's robust security measures prevented any injuries. "This building is highly secured and highly fortified, and there were no injuries," Barredo stated, emphasising the structural integrity of the diplomatic premises.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford raised concerns that the attack could be connected to sleeper cells and international instability, particularly referencing the ongoing Iran war.
