Ryanair Stansted flight diverted amid bomb threats

A Ryanair flight from London Stansted to Bulgaria was diverted on Thursday morning after bomb threats disrupted multiple passenger services, according to flight tracking data.

Flight FR1730 Diverted to Plovdiv

Flight FR1730 departed Stansted at 6am and was scheduled to land in the Bulgarian capital Sofia at 9.25am GMT, but was instead diverted to Plovdiv, according to Flightradar24. By 10am, eight flights had been affected by bomb alerts, according to The Guardian.

Recent String of Alerts

The alerts came two days after multiple flights, including one from Heathrow and another from Manchester, were subject to bomb alerts. The Government said the two UK flights were targeted in “malicious hoax threats”.

Flight LO286 from Heathrow landed at Warsaw Modlin Airport just seven minutes after the alarm was raised. The airport was closed as security operations got underway.
