Northumbria Police have released a video as part of an investigation into an attempted house robbery in Sunderland, where a man in his 70s sustained injuries. The incident occurred at a property on Archer Road in the Farringdon area at approximately 11:45 pm on Monday, May 18.
Details of the Incident
According to police reports, a man rang the doorbell of the home and demanded money from the occupant when the door was opened. The suspect then allegedly pried the door open with his foot before lunging at the elderly victim with a blade. The pensioner struggled with the assailant and was assisted by his female partner in shutting the door, causing the offender to flee on foot.
The victim, in his 70s, suffered non-serious injuries to his hands and stomach during the altercation.
Police Appeal for Information
Officers investigating the incident have released a video of a man they believe may have information that could assist their enquiries. The individual was reportedly in the area at the time of the attempted robbery. Detective Inspector Nicola Walker said: "We are keen to speak to the man in the video as he may have vital information that could help us identify the suspect."
