Five of seven villagers trapped in a flooded cave system in Laos have been successfully rescued after more than a week underground. Two individuals remain missing, with heavy rainfall threatening to impede ongoing search efforts.
Rescue Operation Details
The villagers became trapped last week while searching for valuable minerals when a sudden flash flood blocked their exit. An international rescue team, including divers from Finland, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, France, and Australia, is collaborating with Laotian and Thai teams.
New Theory in Search for Missing
Rescuers are exploring a new theory that a narrow crack in the fifth chamber could lead to a sixth chamber, where the two missing individuals might be. Heavy rain is now complicating the search, raising concerns about further flooding.
Efforts continue as teams work against time and weather to locate the remaining villagers.
