EastEnders actress Lacey Turner has been announced as the first celebrity contestant for Strictly Come Dancing 2026. The BBC star, known for playing Stacey Slater, will join the show when it returns this autumn and winter.
This early reveal comes amid major changes for the programme, including the departure of five professional dancers: Gorka Marquez, Michelle Tsiakkas, Karen Hauer, Nadiya Bychkova, and Luba Mushtuk. Additionally, presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman stepped down after the 2025 Christmas special, with Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe taking over.
Speaking about her involvement, Turner said: 'I am so excited to be making my way to the dance floor this year. I am a huge fan and can't quite believe I will be taking part and not watching at home.'
Willis commented: 'It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Strictly... to be stepping into the Strictly ballroom is something I can't quite comprehend.' Radebe added: 'To be returning to Strictly in this new role is beyond anything I ever imagined.'
