Heathrow flight diverted to Warsaw Modlin after bomb threat

A LOT Polish Airlines flight from London Heathrow to Warsaw with 181 people on board was diverted to Warsaw Modlin Airport after a bomb threat was made against the aircraft. The flight, LO286, was en route to its scheduled destination, Chopin Airport, when it was forced to land at Modlin instead.

Flight Details and Diversion

Flight LO286 departed London at 6.45am and touched down around 10am local time (9am GMT). The Boeing 737 Max 8 is believed to have been carrying 181 people. Emergency crews raced to Modlin Airport after the threat was received, and the airport is now shut until further notice.

Second Incident Involving SAS Flight

The incident is one of two involving bomb threats targeting flights bound for the Polish capital. A second aircraft, run by SAS and flying from Copenhagen, also received a similar threat. That plane touched down at Warsaw Chopin Airport, which continues to operate, though adjustments have been made to its flight timetable.

Passenger Impact and Investigation Status

Passengers have been advised of potential delays and flight alterations as emergency services remain on scene. It has not yet been established whether any dangerous items were discovered on either aircraft or whether the threats were false alarms or hoaxes.
