Four European flights hit by bomb threats, one diverted

Four passenger flights across Europe were hit by bomb alerts on Thursday, forcing one jet to make an emergency landing and diverting another to France. Three Ryanair services bound for Bulgaria were placed on red alert, while an Aer Lingus flight to Rome declared an emergency mid-flight.

Second wave of alerts in 48 hours

This is the second wave of aerial scares in just 48 hours, following similar alerts on seven other planes, two of which had taken off from British airports.

Flight EI402, operated by Aer Lingus, was diverted to France at dawn after crew were forced into a sharp turnaround only an hour and a half after takeoff.

Passengers face disruption

Holidaymakers are facing significant disruption as authorities respond to the threats. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
