Yung Filly acquitted of rape, convicted of assault

After deliberating since Wednesday afternoon, a jury at the District Court of Western Australia returned its verdict on Friday morning local time in the trial of Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos. The 30-year-old, known as Yung Filly, had pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Verdict and charges

Barrientos was found not guilty of three counts of sexual penetration without consent. He was also acquitted of one count of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of strangulation. Jurors were unable to reach verdicts on three further counts of sexual penetration without consent.

However, he was found guilty of two further assault charges, relating to allegations that he bit the victim's neck and breast. Prosecutors had alleged Barrientos assaulted the 20-year-old woman in his Perth hotel room while on tour in September 2024.
