Dorset Police have launched a witness appeal after a woman in her 40s was allegedly sexually assaulted while swimming in the sea at Bournemouth beach near the pier on Sunday, July 12. The incident occurred around 6pm to the left of the pier, when a man reportedly swam up to a family group and touched the woman on the bottom over her clothing.
Suspect Description and Arrest
According to Dorset Police, the suspect is described as of Indian descent, approximately five feet six inches tall, with black hair and a small stubbly beard. He was wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts. Officers responded to the scene and arrested a 35-year-old man from London on suspicion of sexual assault. He has been released on conditional bail pending further investigation.

Police Constable Matthew McGuinness of Dorset Police stated: "We believe that there were independent witnesses that saw the incident and I am appealing for them to please contact us as this could assist our investigation." Separate Sexual Assault in Aldershot
In a separate incident, Hampshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 30s reported a sexual assault in Aldershot. The assault occurred on Alison’s Road at around 11.30pm on Saturday, July 11. The woman was approached by a man unknown to her, who allegedly kissed her, pulled her hair, and punched her in the chest. She managed to run away and was later treated in hospital for a broken finger, concussion, bruising, and scratches.
The suspect is described as white, aged between 20 and 30, 6ft tall, of medium build, with light brown hair, and wearing a blue England football shirt. Hampshire Police have assured the public they are taking the report seriously and have increased patrols in the area.
