A man who sexually assaulted two women during separate nights out in Warrington has been jailed. Ragial Ahmad was sentenced to 14 months in prison at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday, June 9, after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual assault. The 35-year-old was found not guilty of assault by beating.
Incidents in Warrington Town Centre
The court heard that Ahmad, of Gerald Road, Salford, sexually assaulted two women in separate incidents in Warrington town centre in July 2024 and January 2025.
First Incident: July 2024
The first incident took place on July 19, 2024, when Ahmad approached a woman in a nightclub and repeatedly touched her inappropriately without her consent. Despite the woman moving his hands away, Ahmad continued to touch her.
Second Incident: January 2025
The second incident occurred at a bar on January 26, 2025. Witnesses saw Ahmad loitering outside the venue and making unwanted advances towards a group of women. Despite being repeatedly told to leave them alone, he followed the group to a nearby takeaway.
While inside the takeaway, Ahmad touched the bottom of a woman. The incident quickly escalated into a physical altercation, and officers were called to the scene. Ahmad was arrested as he attempted to leave in a taxi.
Police Interviews and Guilty Plea
During police interviews, Ahmad denied following the women, claiming it was a coincidence that he had been at both the bar and the takeaway. He admitted touching the woman but claimed they had been joking together while ordering food and that he had only playfully tapped her thigh.
In a separate interview relating to the nightclub incident, Ahmad denied any wrongdoing. Although he initially pleaded not guilty, Ahmad changed his plea and admitted both sexual assault offences in May 2026.
Sentence and Restraining Order
In addition to his prison sentence, Ahmad has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years and made subject to a five-year restraining order preventing contact with both victims.
Detective Constable Phillip Jackson, of CID Reactive North, said: “It is basic human decency that when someone asks to be left alone and does not give you their consent to touch them, you respect their needs.
“Raigal Ahmad, however, ignored this and repeatedly made unwanted, predatory, advances toward two women who were simply wanting to enjoy a night out with friends.
“We treat all instances of sexual assault with the utmost seriousness, placing the needs and wellbeing of victims at the centre of all investigations.
“Anyone who comes to us with concerns such as serious as those exhibited above will be listened to and treated with respect. No matter how small the claim may seem, we will do all we can to get you the just you deserve.”
