Tinder Predator Jailed: Chilling Details of Soho House Date Rape Revealed
Tinder predator jailed for Soho House date rape

In a case that exposes the dark perils of modern dating, a serial fraudster has been jailed for a vicious attack on a woman he met on Tinder. Joshua Lines, 34, was sentenced to nine years in prison at Isleworth Crown Court after being convicted of rape and administering a substance with intent.

The court heard how Lines, a convicted fraudster already on licence, orchestrated the entire evening to isolate and overpower his victim. He arranged to meet the woman at the exclusive members' club Soho House in White City, West London, in May 2022.

A Chillingly Calculated Assault

Prosecutors detailed the calculated nature of the attack. After meeting his victim, Lines deliberately spiked her drink. The substance rendered her unconscious and incapable of consent. He then took her to a private room within the club where he carried out the sexual assault.

The following morning, the traumatised woman awoke confused and in pain, with no memory of the events after her drink was spiked. She immediately confided in a friend and reported the crime to the Metropolitan Police, triggering a major investigation.

A Pattern of Predatory Behaviour

This was not an isolated incident for Joshua Lines. The court was told he has 12 previous convictions for 28 offences, including a sophisticated £43,000 fraud where he impersonated a doctor to steal personal data. He was already serving a suspended sentence and was on licence at the time of the rape.

Detective Constable Jack Earl, the investigating officer, condemned Lines as a "calculated and predatory individual" who poses a significant danger to women. He praised the immense bravery of the victim for coming forward and supporting the prosecution.

A Warning to Dating App Users

This harrowing case serves as a stark warning about vigilance when meeting strangers. Police urge the public to:

  • Always meet in a public place for the first time.
  • Tell a friend or family member where you are going and who you are meeting.
  • Be vigilant with your drinks and never leave them unattended.
  • Trust your instincts—if something feels wrong, leave immediately.

Joshua Lines will also be subject to an extended licence period of four years and will be on the sex offenders register for life.
