A harrowing case at Manchester Crown Court has heard how a vulnerable student, crying outside a nightclub, was targeted by a predator who whispered false comforts before brutally raping her.
Mohammed Ali, a 23-year-old Sudanese immigrant, approached the distressed young woman in the early hours of the morning. The prosecution alleged that seeing her in a state of emotional turmoil, Ali saw an opportunity for attack rather than an individual in need of help.
'I Love You': A Deceptive Whisper Before the Attack
The court was told that Ali approached the student as she wept on the street. In a chilling act of deception, he put his arm around her and whispered, "I love you," before leading her away from the vicinity of the nightclub.
Prosecutor Joe Allman described how Ali then dragged the victim to a nearby car park. There, he subjected her to a violent and sustained sexual assault, ignoring her desperate pleas for him to stop.
A Struggle for Survival
The victim, whose identity is protected by law, fought back during the ordeal. The prosecution detailed how she was heard screaming "no" repeatedly, a clear and unambiguous rejection of Ali's advances.
Despite her resistance, the attack only ceased when the headlights of an approaching car illuminated the scene, causing Ali to flee and leaving his victim traumatised on the ground.
Justice Pursued at Manchester Crown Court
Mohammed Ali, of Broom Street, Salford, has denied the charges of rape against him. The trial continues as the jury hears evidence about the events of that night.
