A huge emergency response was deployed to Stockport after a man climbed onto a roof in a three-hour stand-off.
Officers descended on Deneway, in the Heaton Norris area, to arrest the man at around 2am on Tuesday, June 16. He was wanted on suspicion of rape, breach of a harassment order and recall to prison, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said.
But when officers arrived on the scene, the suspect, aged in his 30s, climbed out of a window and onto a roof. He refused to get down for three hours.
Police said 'several resources' were deployed to the street including the helicopter, firefighters and paramedics. The suspect eventually came down at around 5.30am.
He was subsequently arrested and has been taken into custody. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "We arrested a man in his 30s in Stockport in the early hours of today (16/6/26) after he tried to evade custody by climbing onto a roof.
