An alleged serial sex offender has denied murdering two sex workers after being released on police bail while under investigation for the first killing. Simon Levy, 40, appeared at the Old Bailey today via video link from HMP Belmarsh, wearing a grey tracksuit, and pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Chronology of Alleged Crimes
Levy was initially arrested on April 1 last year on suspicion of murdering Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, 53, whose body was discovered on March 17, 2025, on the Aylesbury estate in Peckham, southeast London. Prosecutor Tom Little, KC, stated the body was found in a largely disused block of flats in the early evening.
Despite this arrest, Levy was released by police under investigation. Four months later, he allegedly killed another sex worker, Sheryl Wilkins, 39. Her body was found at 6:30am on August 4 in a car park near a B&M store on High Road, Tottenham.
Violent Sex Attack Allegations
Levy is also accused of subjecting a third woman to a violent sex attack on the same Tottenham road on January 21 last year. Prosecutor Kerry Broome outlined that this rape was a violent attack on a sex worker, similar to the circumstances surrounding the murders.
Regarding Ms. Wilkins, Broome said two police officers discovered her body face down with her head and upper body covered by a jacket, noting bruising and scratching. All three women were reported to be sex workers.
Legal Proceedings and Denials
Levy, who is partially blind and resides on Beaufoy Road in Tottenham, was rearrested on September 4 and now faces charges for both murders. In court, he denied two counts of murder, two charges of rape, grievous bodily harm with intent, and non-fatal suffocation against the surviving woman.
The partially blind defendant, blind in one eye, is scheduled to face trial at the Old Bailey starting June 22. The case highlights serious concerns about bail procedures and the safety of vulnerable individuals.
Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, 53, was found dead in Peckham, while Sheryl Wilkins, 39, was discovered in Tottenham. The prosecutions emphasize the violent nature of these alleged crimes, with both murders and the rape involving significant physical harm.
