A 13-year-old girl who left her home to buy noodles from a local food shop was reportedly gang-raped by two minors and an 18-year-old in Ghaziabad, India. The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 26, in Wave City.
Suspects known to the girl
The police have stated that the minors are aged 15 and 17. Both have been detained, while the 18-year-old has been arrested. It is reported that the suspects were known to the girl.
When she left her home to buy some Chinese food from a nearby shop, she was allegedly kidnapped and taken to the home of one of the suspects' relatives, where she was sexually assaulted in a secluded room.
Investigation and arrests
As reported by Hindustan Times, an officer involved in the investigation said: "According to the complaint, the girl left home by herself on Wednesday afternoon to have some Chinese food from a local shop. From there, the three allegedly abducted her and took her to the house of a relative of one of the minor suspects.
"It is alleged that the incident happened there, in a secluded room outside the house. The girl was allowed to leave an hour later and she walked back home as her house was nearby."
Police complaint and FIR
The girl's mother lodged a police complaint when her daughter disclosed what had transpired, and a medical examination confirmed that the girl had been raped, reports the Express. Priyashri Pal, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Wave City, also stated: "Based on a complaint, the police registered an FIR under sections 137(2) (kidnapping) and 70(2) (gang-rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as well as provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, at the Wave City police station.
"On Thursday, the minors were taken into custody and the 18-year-old man was arrested."
The medical examination of the girl was also conducted.
