Russell Brand has been accused of raping two more women, including a 16-year-old schoolgirl, and could face further criminal charges. The 51-year-old is currently in custody after being found guilty of rape and three sexual assaults.
Met Police Investigation Ongoing
The Met Police said an investigation is currently underway. A spokesperson said: "The Met's investigation into allegations of rape made by two women remains ongoing."
"The suspect has previously been interviewed under caution in connection with the allegations. Files have been submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service in relation to both complainants. Detectives remain in close contact with prosecutors as enquiries continue and further investigative work is carried out."
Conviction and Court Proceedings
It comes after he was found guilty of raping one of his fans and sexually assaulting three women during the heyday of his comedy career. He was cleared of two further charges of rape and one allegation of attempted indecent assault on Thursday, November 5.
Southwark Crown Court heard he preyed on women he encountered while becoming one of Britain's best-known stand-up comedians, a lauded TV and radio host, and a Hollywood movie star. His victims came to court to reveal how Brand had forced them into sexual activity, sometimes within seconds of them first meeting, using his immense fame to determinedly pursue a goal of sex with 5,000 women.
Evidence and Sentencing
The court heard how Brand, who once boasted he would not relent in his pursuit of sex before getting his "birthright orgasm", ignored pleas from women for him to stop. Six women gave evidence against Brand, while the former comedian, who was once married to Katy Perry, could not persuade any of his celebrity friends or former showbiz colleagues to give evidence in his defence.
Brand displayed no emotion as the verdicts were read out, other than to close his eyes when the guilty verdict on the rape charge was announced. He loudly replied "yes My Lord" when he was remanded into custody.
