A paranoid rapist issued a chilling threat to his victim as he strangled her before sexually assaulting her. Jack-Leland Webster, formerly known as Jack Malone, terrorised his victim, threatening to kill her and then stalking her while on bail by creating numerous fake social media accounts.
Manchester Crown Court heard that in June 2024, Webster accused the victim of cheating with her ex-boyfriend. When she tried to leave his flat in Manchester, he blocked the doorways, climbed on top of her, strangled her, and said: 'Don't make me kill you. If you do, I'll have to kill myself so we can be dead together.' He then sexually assaulted her.
After his arrest, Webster continued his control over the victim while on bail. He bought fake social media accounts to follow and contact the victim, her family, and her friends. On one occasion, she was followed by over 100 profiles within seconds. He also posed as her ex-partner when sending messages.
During police interviews, Webster denied all charges. He was obstructive, telling an officer to 'pick me up from KFC' and 'catch me if you can'. He brought a book on 'how to be a good debater' to an interview, showing no remorse. He pleaded guilty to stalking but went to trial for rape and strangulation, where a jury found him guilty.
On Wednesday, Webster, of Cedar Road, Earl Shilton, Leicester, was sentenced to nine years and five months in prison and given an indefinite restraining order. Detective Constable Lucy Hatton said: 'Jack-Leland Webster is a very dangerous individual... I hope this sentence offers some reassurance for other victims of stalking and sexual offences.'
